Sartorial Worlds – a photographic sojourn on the periphery – TAGG-Toorak Times

Photographer, stylist and fashion afficionado Rachael Haack (Roxy) graduated with Honours and today is a veteran Creative Director. She continues to take her inspiration from her travel and work around the world. An extensive career in Melbourne design studios evolved to the Middle East and London. Rachael ran her own design business living and working in these diverse environments.

Rachael presents her perceptive second creation “Sartorial Worlds – a photographic sojourn on the periphery.” It follows the distinctive introductory series “The Jellies” created in the Middle East.

Her vision for the evocative “Sartorial Worlds” was discovered locally in the community driven Hawksburn village. Photographs were taken in the environs of South Yarra and Toorak in Rachael’s home city, Melbourne. Collaboration with favourite Toorak boutique Whofish, steered a finely tuned concept. Clothing is positioned in edifice and nature, layered with poignant stories.

The items and their wearer are always inextricably linked. Necessity, human resilience and intrigue evoked in artistic, photographic style. An unobtrusive stillness captures images from sun-up through to vespertine.

Mick created TAGG – The Alternative Gig Guide in 1979 with Helmut Katterl, the world’s first real Street Magazine. He had been involved with his fathers publishing business, Toorak Times and associated publications since 1972.

Mick was also involved in Melbourne’s music scene for a number of years opening venues, discovering and managing bands and providing information and support for the industry.

Mick has also created a number of local festivals and is involved in not for profit and supporting local charities.
